Senator Inhofe: A Great Step Forward or A Hoax?

Sen. Inhofe

If you do not know who the person to the left, don't worry. In short, his name is Sen. James M. Inhofe, a republican from the good old Oklahoma and the person who is likely to lead the "Environment and Public Works Committee when the GOP takes control of the Senate next year" (Hamburger). This post will cover facts about the EPA and future changes. Will Sen. Inhofe change the future of the environment and the economy or will the EPA step in to add new polices?

Sen. James Inhofe (facts)

  • Strong advocate for limited government
  • Individual Liberty and Personal Responsibility
  • Power to the local communities
  • 2013, National Journal ranked him Top 5 most conservative members of the Senate.
I agree with Sen. Inhofe, the EPA needs to be constrained. From the creation of the Environmental Protection Agency, it has done more harm than good to the citizens of United States. The EPA is getting more and more aggressive each year and it does not improve the economy. People see the EPA as the answer to the world's biggest problems, but that is not entirely true. I do admit that EPA has done great deeds in order to protect the environment, but too much power can impact the economy. Too much restrictions can lead to loss of jobs, increase in energy prices, and limitations of small and big businesses/industries.

I say that people should allow Sen. Inhofe a chance to change the environment for the better. He ran a fair committee and is well known throughout the senate.

WHAT DO WE REALLY KNOW ABOUT GLOBAL WARMING?

Our knowledge on global warming was limited throughout our school career. Most likely, our teachers taught us about the negative effects of global warming. For example, in an environmental point of view, global warming increases contamination of fresh water, risk of coral extinction, and changes in bird/animal pattern. But positive effects can also include greener rain forests, increase plant growth in certain parts of the world, and vegetation increase in high latitudes. My final say is that there should be a limit to everything. As Romney said, "My view is that the EPA-if it keeps to its mission and does not use its power to foster...would be a more effective department"(Hudson).
